The Reading Passport: Books set in Newfoundland and Labrador

In this post we will visit the easternmost province in Canada, or at least we will do so through the books below. Two popular dog breeds, the Newfoundland and the Labrador, are named after the two landmasses that make up the province. Newfoundland and Labrador was the first place to receive wireless communication in 1901 when the historical transmission was received by Marconi in Signal Hill. It's capital, St John's, was also the departure of the first non-stop transatlantic flight in 1919. If any of the books in this list keep you up at night and you happen to be in the province, it might be useful to know that convenience stores in Newfoundland sell beer until 2:00 am
