The Reading Passport: Books set in Iowa

Most people think corn when they think of Iowa, but there is far more to this state than corn. As cities go, Iowa has some interesting ones: Le Mars, a city that claims to be the Ice Cream Capital of the World for being the headquarters of Well Enterprise; Sabula, an island town within a landlocked state; Burlington, where the world's most crooked street, Snake Alley, can be found; and Iowa City, the only UNESCO City of Literature in the U.S. While it is debatable what the best thing since sliced bread might be, what is not in doubt is that the phrase exists today thanks to Iowa native Otto Frederick Rohwedder' invention: the bread-slicing machine. Who knows, maybe you can find the best book since sliced bread among the ones listed in this post.
